Mission

Bay Area Optical Schools is dedicated to providing the community with properly prepared optical personnel, and to preparing its students for successful careers in the optical field.

Bay Area Optical Schools is not a public institution. The institution does not offer English as a second language instruction.

Goals and Objectives

The certificate program of Bay Area Optical Schools is designed to prepare an individual for a challenging and rewarding career as an Optical Assistant or ABO Certified Optician'.

It is the institute’s intent that all program graduates obtain employment. The Institute will provide assistance to the graduate in acquiring employment.

The faculty and staff will keep the students abreast of current trends in the ophthalmic professions, as well as, changes in procedures and equipment.

The institution’s programs will introduce the student of the basic principles of management, develop skills involved in quality assurance, and instill competent professionalism and ethical behavior.

The institution’s programs will provide instruction to prepare the graduate to communicate effectively with eye care professionals and laboratory personnel.

The interests and welfare of the community, students, faculty, institution and ophthalmic health care professions converge on many points. These needs are met by striving for and reaching the stated goals and objectives of the program. The goals and objectives of the institution are consistent and compatible with goals of the community.

Facilities



The campus is located at 4 Union Square, Suite "Eye", Union City, California 94587. The school office is open from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The facility consists of lecture and training area. The classroom and laboratory is designed to facilitate up to 20 students per class. Equipment consists of lensometers, pupilometers, calipers, lens clocks and optical hand tools. Administrative offices are located at the Union City campus.

The location has handicapped access, free student parking, and is one block from the BART Union City Station.
